7. YouTube Live: A live concert broadcast on YouTube on 11/22/08. Did YouTube’s live stream live up to expectations?
6. Facebook Acquiring Twitter Rumors: Wait, what? Facebook acquiring Twitter? Guess again. After several weeks of speculation and an offer of $500 million in Facebook stock that Twitter Co-Founder Evan Williams declined, the merge is officially off the table.
5. Top 10 iPhone App Downloads: With the year coming to a close and more than 10,000 iPhone apps currently available (and 300 million downloaded), Apple’s had a pretty good year. Last week the company announced its top 10 iPhone app downloads of 2008.
4. Top Yahoo Searches: Also last week, Yahoo! released a list of their top 10 searches for both mobile and Web. Arrington said it best: “Please, people, stop typing Britney Spears Into Search Boxes.” (Come on, just type her name into Twitter instead!)
3. YouTube and Ning Censoring Content: This week both YouTube and Ning “say no to sex” with enhanced censorship guidelines.
2. Google Friend Connect and Facebook Connect: A big step in data portability this week, both Google and Facebook launched their own open ID initiatives - Google Friend Connect and Facebook Connect.
1. Tweeting from Mumbai: Twitter makes a huge impact as a medium for citizen journalism during the Mumbai tragedy.
Tweet of the Week:
As we talked about in our top story of the week, there were tons of Tweets coming out of Mumbai - this one from @anilenand is one of the first: announcing the killing of the anti-terrorist bureau chief and the start of the siege.
Social Shutterbug of the Week:
Following a tweet fromt the LAFD about a “photo opp”, someone managed to snap this picture of an SUV that ended up on top of two other cars. Thankfully, no one was hurt.

This is a good overview of the week in social media and web. I enjoyed the intro also to the episode.
